Nichasie Miller with her camera on the Mississippi Gulf Coast

Every story deserves a witness.

We are an independent documentary studio on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We make short-form documentary work about people who go up against the systems that were supposed to help them, and who kept the receipts. No scripts. No reenactments. Just the record, and the person who kept it.

Your story belongs to you. Every interview is confidential, released only with your signed permission, and you review the final cut before anything is published.

Now in production

Four Horizons

My first documentary series is in production now on the Gulf Coast. Each episode is one person, one conversation: someone who fought a financial aid office, an administrative department, a gradebook, or any institution that made them prove what should have been plain, and who documented their way through it. No scripts. No reenactments. No dramatizations. Just the record, and the person who kept it.

The person behind the camera

Rising Flame Studios was established by Nichasie Miller, a Gulf Coast filmmaker and documentarian. The studio's work is shaped by an inside understanding of what it costs to challenge an institution and what it takes to be believed: the unanswered letter, the disputed ledger, the record someone refused to let disappear. That experience is why every promise on this site is written down, why interviews are built around the participant's control, and why the studio treats documentation as an act of care.

When she is not filming, Nichasie is finishing a marketing degree, tutoring, organizing with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Mutual Aid Collective, and writing at Velvet Horizons. She cooks, she drives, and she shows up.

From the journal

If aliens arrived tomorrow, everyone I know has the same answer ready: take me with you. Fair. Valid. Been there.

You do not need a finished story, a resolution, or proof that you won. You need a story and the willingness to tell it. I will handle the rest.
